Sarge
Unarium-encased butter
Sarge looked up as Zil asked him if he thought if Aries was okay. He gazed out in the direction of the cave, a concerned expression on his face.

Frankly? Sarge said, looking back at Zil, No. I think something's gone wrong. But I have no idea how we would be able to help.

A few moments later, Alara flew down from the cave, and landed next to them. She moved over to Zil and whispered into his ears. Though she was only whispering, Sarge had developed extremely sharp ears in his years of looking out for himself. He heard her words, and was relieved that Aries was alright. He supposed that the loss of one egg was regrettable, but he honestly believed that Aries's well being was more important than any egg.

Without waiting for any other acknowledgment, Sarge took off towards the cave, putting on as much speed as possible. After a few moments of flying, he landed near the mouth of the cave. His initial instinct was to barge in and find Aries, but he forced himself to sit a bit aways from the mouth of the cave and wait anxiously for Aries to come out.

When Silvera pulled the egg out of the womb and saw that she had pierced it, her heart had become heavy. She knew that she had killed one of Aries's eggs, and it hurt her to know that. She knew that it couldn't be avoided given the circumstance, but still, it hurt her. She watched as the last two eggs came out of her shoot and cringed. She knew what it felt like for the most part, but Aries was smaller that she was, but a lot, and her eggs weren't smaller than the ones that she laid. She moved down to her shoot and once again licked it only to clear the blood and the fluid away so that she could see how large the tear was so that she could heal it. Once she had, she turned her complete attention to comforting Aries.

Yes, it's okay now. It's over, and hopefully sometime very soon they will hatch and you will become a mother, perhaps even a better one than me. she told her trying to comfort her more as she fed her more healing magic to try to calm down the pain. It was all she could to for her at the moment other than have her turn around. Why don't you come over here and take a look at the surviving eggs. Your young are going to be very beautiful, she told them.

When Sarge told him that he feared that something may have went wrong, he just kind of hung his head. The thought of him losing Aries was heavy on his mind, and it was one that he didn't like. I hope if something did go wrong, that it isn't anything too serious. I have a feeling though, that with something like this, every problem is a serious problem, he told him glancing back at Nicara. She was contently munching on more apples once he had told her that it wasn't her mother that was roaring. She was so cute, and was happy that Silvera had been blessed with a hatchling like her, and only hoped that he could be as lucky as well.

Then the roaring stopped, and Alara came out of the cave. She descended down and landed directly in front of them. She knelt her head down into his ear-hole to whisper to him that the labor was over, and that five eggs had been safely laid, but that there was also an egg that did not survive. That must have been what the roaring was about. I'm not sure the cause, but I'm fairly certain that the roar had something to do with it. Maybe it got stuck or busted inside of her, either would had to have hurt, he thought nodding to Alara. Thank you Alara. he told her turning to Nicara. Nicara, we can go up and be with your mother now. Come get on my back and I'll get you up there. he told her. He knew that he himself was very small for his age, but she was still rather small, maybe a sixth of his six. He felt he could lift her safely.

He watched Sarge go on ahead, and Nicara got on his back and he pushed off upwards as well. The added weight of Nicara originally caught him by surprise. He was not used to it at all. Eventually he managed to get her and himself up to the den, and he walked in as Nicara jumped off of his back and ran over to where her mother was.

He started walking over to where Aries was. He knew that she could probably use his support right now and that she was probably hurting a lot after what she went through. He could see Silvera patching her up. He was happy that if there was anyone that was here, it was her. She was the best healer in the clan. As far as he was concerned, if Silvera couldn't heal it then it couldn't be healed. He walked over to Aries and Nuzzled her on her cheek. You okay baby? he asked her looking at the nest of the five safe eggs. His eye also caught the egg that was broken. It looked as if almost a talon had punctured it. Is that what caused all the painful roars we heard outside? he asked.

Alara watched as Sarge flew up to the den in a quick haste, no doubt worrying about his sister. Nicara was busy eating apples, so maybe it was a good thing she didn't hear. But Zil wouldn't leave her out here, and he sure would go visit Aries as soon as possible. So he thanked Alara, and flew up to the den with Nicara hanging onto his back. It was a humorous site, but Nicara wasn't ready to take a flight up to a den that high with her fragile wings.

Now all alone and feeling vulnerable, Alara flew up right behind Zil, not faltering as she landed in the den. Those smells made her nausous again, but she couldn't leave. Aries might need her for the eggs, or just for company. Either way, she didn't mind whether to stay all night or a week. She did have a lot of people here to support her, so maybe it was time for Alara to leave. She felt extremely tired without a nap she started taking ever since the eggs started weighing down on her, or the fat she assumed it was.

But it would look weird just leaving all of a sudden. Maybe staying for a while would help. So she sat down in the side of the den, giving the others the space they needed. The others were family, and she wasn't. It made her feel lonely, but she did have Finn to fall back on. It was better to have one person who loved you than having a thousand people kind of like you.

If they needed her, they'd call. She was sure of it. So she laid down on her stomach, seeing the eggs all warm and healthy. Hopefully they'd all hatch for Aries's sake.

It was over. The labour was over, the pain was over. Well, the pain wasn't exactly over, but it was now dull and not as if someone had shoved a huge talon up her reproductive shute.

Thanks Silvera.. Alara.. she said in a soft voice, then pushed herself up into a standing position. She grunted and winced as she did so, but first she had to clean herself up, so she moved to the back of the den to lick herself clean painstakingly. it was an instinct she had to follow to avoid infection in the future. As soon as she was done, she got up again and returned to her sister just as Zilcaron with Nicara on his back and Sarge came flying up. Zil'caron came over to her and nuzzled her gently to which she responded lovingly.

You okay baby? Is that what caused all the painful roars we heard outside? he asked. he asked her, looking at the broken egg. She followed his gaze, staring at the ruined eggshell, the yoke in a little pool on the bottom and around it.

Yes.. she said in a feathery, but firm voic,e turning back to him and Sarge. The egg tried to come out the wrong way up and got stuck.. Silvera had to break it to pull it out of me. she said. Though her voice was steady, there were tears in her eyes she didn't aknowledge and expected them not to either. Zil, Sarge, here.. she said softly and led them over to the litter of eggs, lying down by their side with her tail around them. Gold, black, white, they were beautiful, she thought to herself, smiling down at him, then up at Zil'caron, whom she licked on the snout. I love you..

Looking past her sister, she then noticed Alara, who was standing at the endge of the den, looking queasy. ... Alara, are you alright? she asked, concerned. You should go rest before you're sick. she advised, not knowing she had been sick already. She'd been in a nirvana of pain then. Why don't you come over here..? Don't stand over there by yourself.. I owe you so much. she told her gently, her silver eyes soft and tender as they looked at her, her tail intertwining with her sister's.

Sarge

Sarge almost jumped forward when Aries came out anxious to check over his sister and make sure she was okay, but again, forced himself to stay seated. He satisfied himself by checking her over from a distance, noting everything that could be wrong with her. Truth to be told, she did not look so great. Her posture showed exhaustion, her head was drooping slightly, and she was panting slightly. She moved slowly and deliberately, trying to strain her understandably sore hindquarters.

Zil landed nearby and moved over to Aries, nuzzling her and asking her if she was okay, and about the terrible pained roar from earlier. From where Sarge was, he could see the abnormally large, cracked egg, with yoke pooling under it. Sarge winced as he compared its size to Aries, and suddenly had no doubt as to what the roaring was about. He winced again when Aries explained it had lodged sideways. Sarge noticed the tears that ran freely from her eyes and down her cheek, but she seemed to be ignoring them.

Aries called him and Zil over to the nest where the eggs and sat next to them, her tail curled around them. Sarge came over to her other side and looked down up on the eggs, inspecting them. His expression was a mix of contempt and apathy; those damned little things had given his sister hell. Wordlessly, he lifted his tail and wiped the tears from his sister's eyes, before bringing it back down next to his side.

He gave the eggs another rueful glance, before sighing and softening his expression. Whether he liked it or not, he would have to be an Uncle, and deal with his sister's offspring sooner or later. He supposed he ought to start to practice being nice. He took a quick glance around. Aries was leaning against Zil'caron, advising Alara to rest, for she looked sick to her stomach, while Silvera was by her sister's side, their tails entwined.
Right, Sarge thought to himself, No need for me.
He didn't particularly trust himself in social situations; Sarge was not the social type. He wanted to avoid doing something to alienate those around him.

You need to rest... the egg laying obviously took a lot out of you, Sarge said to Aries, still looking at the eggs with a mixed expression, before standing up and turning to leave Aries to Zil's comfort, I'll leave you to be with your mate.

Dragon of the masters

Silvera continued channeling healing magic into her sister as she got up. She watched as she walked towards the back of the den and began licking herself to clean the excess fluids from around her to avoid infections later. She knew that it wasn't liking it, but it had to be done none-the-less. Her eggs were beautiful, and a lot like hers were. Of course, she expected nothing less from her sister. She tried to help her as much as she could, but she respected her privacy. After all, the only reason that she herself had licked her in such a manner was so that she could at first see the egg to get it out, then to see the tear so that she could heal it before Aries lost anymore blood from it.

As she was tending to herself, Zil'caron, Sarge, and Nicara all came into the room. Good, you guys made it. she told them. Aries is going to be very tired for the next couple days. I didn't have too much of a problem with inflammation or anything of the like, but she's a lot smaller than I am, so the after effects will be worse. she told them as she came back out. She watched as she walked over to her eggs with Zil'caron. She remembered back when they first met how shy she was around him, and how shy they were towards each other. Now she looked at them and saw a beautiful young couple that she knew that not even death could separate them.

She walked up and laid beside Aries to comfort her more. She knew that Zil'caron was helping, but Aries was still her sister, and she wanted to be with her a bit longer, especially the next few days to make sure no complications flared up. As she got ready to lay down, she felt Nicara jump onto her back. Mommy, what are those round things that are on the ground, and why are they all shiny?

Those are called eggs, which is what you were in yourself only a few weeks ago, and the reason they are wet is because they are brand new, and were just made.

How were they made then?

Haha, that is a question that you are not ready to hear the answer to quite yet.
she told her daughter as she felt Aries's tail intertwine with her own. She let one of her wing drift over both her and Zil. She couldn't be happier for the two of them. They would soon be able to know what it feels like to be able to watch your own eggs hatch.

When She heard Aries mentioning something Alara about being ill. Indeed Alara, you can come over here and lay with us. I couldn't have done half of what I was able to without you here. in fact, you being here quite possibly is what saved Aries's life. I fear that if you weren't hear, I may not have had a choice but to open her up to get the egg out, and with as much pain as that would have been on her, she would have either died from shock, or blood loss. At the very least, if you aren't feeling well, you should come over here for a bit so that I could look over you to make sure that you are indeed okay. It's the least I can do for you. she told her warm and openly.

Zil'caron made his way over to Aries almost immediately once she entered the room, and them both made a crescent around their eggs. Their eggs... it was a thought that clinged to him. He was a father now, or at the very least very close to being one. Everything in his life was about to take new meaning, knowing that now every time that he left the den, every decision would have to be made with extreme caution to ensure that he got home safely to help raise their new family.

When he felt Aries lick him on his snout and told him that she loved him, he returned her lick without hesitation almost catching her tongue as it slipped back into her maw. I love you too Aries. So much so that I would do anything and everything to keep something from hurting you, and our eggs no matter the cost to me. He told her with tears rolling from his eyes. His tears though, were tears of joy. Tears shed from the happiness that he felt just by being with her, and knowing that he was only eggshells away from being a father. Those to situations combined made it impossible for him not to shed a few tears.

I am sorry that we lost the one, but you are okay, and that's the most important thing, he told her as he felt Silvera's wing drape over the both of them, of which he seized the opportunity to lean over into Aries carefully moving to where all of the eggs were in front of them. This is the third happiest moment in my life. My first was meeting you, and my second was our first time together, then this. I am the happiest dragon alive right now just because you're here with me. he told her truthfully with as much love and compassion as he could fit into his voice.

He then heard Sarge tell Aries that he would leave them be for now until she had recovered. Sarge was her brother so he could stay as long as he liked. He assumed though that he probably felt uncomfortable in the matter right now though, so he decided to just not say anything. This would be something he left up to the beautiful pearl-white dragon laying next to him to decide.

Aries seemed to be happy with her eggs, as she settled down next to them with Zil. Aries and Sil's tail entertwined. It looked really sweet, how they were acting such like family when they weren't even blood. It was definitely possible, though, to call someone family. Who knew? Maybe down the line they actually were related. That was a possibility Alara would like to know.

But Aries turned to Alara finally, noticing her queasy state. She said that she looked sick, and needed to rest. That was definitely true. She was about to get up and go back to her den to rest when she said to come over to them, lay down next to them. Aries also said how she owed Alara so much for her help. Alara didn't think she did much. After all, she pretty much sat there the whole time, watching her in pain. But moving the eggs a certain way probably did help.

Sil agreed, inviting her over, saying she would give her a look over to help her calm down the sickness.

No, I couldn't accept your help. Besides, it's probably the eggs. It's just normal. But lying down does sound like a great idea. So Alara did just that. She laid down next to Sil, but still stayed back to give the three their room. Sarge said he should probably leave, but if he wanted to, that wasn't a problem.

Finally relaxing her muscles felt good. Even though she didn't do much that day, all the stress and emotion from Aries's birth took a lot out of her. Along with the naps she would have.

Her half closed eyes lingered on the eggs. She gave Aries a reassuring smile. They're beautiful, Aries. You did an amazing job. Just know that if you need any help, I'm here.

It did take a lot out of me, but it was worth it.. Aries smiled at her brother gently, lovingly. Right then, she might have felt as if a ountain had fallen on top of her, but she was the happiest dragoness possible in the entire world. She had her family and friends around her, her mate by her side and her newly-lain eggs right next to her. She couldn't ask for anything more.

When Sarge said he was leaving, she frowned and whined slightly. You don't have to.. I love you and I'd love you with me.. She realized he might be uncomfortable then, though, and changed her mind. If you feel better outside though, I understand..

She then turned to Zil'caron, who was being so sweet she felt as if she were melting. I would do the same to protect you and them.. You're my mate, and having you here by my side is just... She sighed instead of finishing her sentence, a sigh of simple joy. She licked his face and neck, under the cover of her sister's wing. Her eyes were drooping closed, much like Alara's.

I love you all.. So much.. she said softly and let her eyes drop closed, resting her head on Zil'caron's forepaws and letting her eyes close fully. She was so tired. She felt as if she could sleep for a month..

With that thought in mind and a tender snuffle against Zil'caron's chest, she drifted off into a deep, untroubled sleep.[/b]

Sarge

Sarge stopped when he head Aries let out a plaintive whine and ask him to come back, telling him she loved him and loved to have him with her. However, a moment later, she quietly said that she understood if he was uncomfortable.

Sarge hesitated. His sister wanted him to be with her, and he wanted to be with his sister. But he did not particularly care for the others there, and he knew it would be uncomfortable. He didn't particularly trust himself with them, either. But Aries wanted him with her, so he would come.

Alright, Aries- Sarge began, turning back towards her, but stopped when he saw her asleep peacefully, a tranquil, pain-free expression on her face. Sarge smiled a little at the sight, before turning and opening his wings, taking off and flying away.
