Rykasha was sitting by the shores of the lake, the full moon reflecting in the dark water. Though her body was stone still, her mind was abuzz with remembering. A young Ryka, still without her cresent moon scar, was chasing butterflies in a field when she had seen a strange creature, a human, at the edge. It beckoned to her and ran off into the woods. She had followed it until she had reached the edge of its encampment. There it stood with several others of its kind, all armed with huge nets and jagged swords. They threw the nets towards Ryka, nearly ensnaring her. One threw a small knife at her, which sliced her skin near her eye. She turned and ran, knowing that they'd try to catch her again. As she raced through the forest back to her family's cave, she could hear their footsteps and angry shouts behind her. As she came in sight of her family's cave, she saw her eldest brother launch himself between her and the humans. Ryka took a deep, shuddering breath. (Arouro, my eldest brother... you tried to stop those maniacs from hurting me, even though you knew it was my fault they found us... And then I went and broke the promise I made to you... Why did I have to defy your last wish?!?) With a scream of frustration, Ryka struck the surface of the water with her claws, sending a spray of water into the air. Why?!? Why did I have to be so damn foolish?!? Breathing heavily, Ryka shut her eyes. Calm, Ryka. What was that song mother used to sing when I was upset? She began to hum quietly, and then started to sing. Wash away the tears, wipe away the sorrows, Pretend there were no yesterdays, only the promise of tomorrows. Tomorrow you can make things right, But don't worry tonight. Let the moon see your tears, Tell it all of your fears. Tears began to seep through Ryka's closed eyelids. She took another deep, shuddering breath and opened her eyes. She looked up at the full moon. You have seen my sorrows before, haven't you? You saw them the night I came to this place, this land where there are no humans. It was the first night I wasn't afraid of being ambushed and killed. She shut her eyes again. You, the moon that watches me every night, you know everything about me. The moon's reflection in the water shivered with the small waves of the lake, as if to agree with Ryka's words. |

Taking a short vacation from the hastles of her clan, Silvera decided to see what was about in the Selicarian Lake. Zircon could handle the clan by himself for a few days while she took some time to be alone and just relax. If only it were that easy. She thought to herself. It had been a bit since she had left the clan, andthe last time she did she had a run in with a violent dragon that was a deep bluish black color. this dragon had shredded her right wing until she had knocked it out with a beam of ice. She let Zircon know that she would be leaving for a few days, and used her powerful hind legs to push herself upwards as her wings thrusted her up into the sky for the long journey. I swear this flight gets longer and longer every time I make it. She said to herself as she started passing over the vast open areas of the central plains on her way out to the lake. Along the way she paused for a short bit as a small heard of deer had left itself out in the open as dusk started to approach the central plains and she dove down and snatched one of the many deer that was present with the heard. She laid down and continued to feed on the deer that she had caught taking her time with it and actually peeling the meet off of the bones for a change rather than eating the animal almost whole like she normally has to if she even wants to eat. It's nice to relax. She thought to herself as she finished the on deer after breaking out it's ribbs and using the first talon on her right fore-limb to scoop out the internal organs and the rest of the meat that was found with in the rib-cage of the first deer and then licked her talon clean before repeating the entire process once again on the second deer that she had caught. Once she was finished with her meal, she once again used the power of her wings and legs to push herself up into the air to continue her flight to the Selicarian Lake. The dusk how had now completely given way to the twilight hour which is the hour where the sun had completely set yet the light of the sun was sill completely visible from beyond the horizon displaying itself, in bright yellow transitioning itself to orange and the bluish-black as the light faded into the darkness of the night time sky giving way to the light of a fully lit moon. Silvera loved being out at night. The temperatures more often than not were cooler, which she was always happier with seeing that she never really did like hot weather even though it did get somewhat hot in the plain, and she also just loved looking at the stars, and with no one else around she was able to just take into herself looking up at the stars while she was flying with a somewhat slow descent nearly clipping a tree from not paying attention to her flight. I guess I should probably watch where I am going. After all, there is plenty of time for me to star-gaze once I've reached the lake She thought to herself as she start approaching the lake. She found a small opening in the trees not too far from the shore for her to land in and angled herself towards it landing with nearly no sound. Just then she heard the sound of another dragon shouting. Just great, I come here to relax and end up coming straight into an argument. she thought to herself until it clicked in her mind that she had recognized that voice. She moved herself closer trying to stay within the trees in case something was wrong and she could have the element of surprise if she needed it. As she got closer though Her thoughts were both confirmed and overthrown at the same time. Ryka... She thought to herself as she saw that she was indeed alone, and appeared to be very upset. Which was confirmed when Silvera listened to her talking, or singing rather it sounded like. Silvera had seen enough, as far as she was concerned Ryka was her friend, and she hated seeing her upset like this. She quietly lowered herself into the water out of the tree line and started making her way over to Ryka carefully trying to not startle her. Ryka! She said trying to get her attention as she pulled up right beside of her, and placed her right wing over Ryka's back. Ryka, is everything alright? What has gotten you so upset? She asked in a soft, caring, and an obviously concerned voice wanting to help her friend. |

Ryka was startled to find a wing settle over her shoulder. She turned to find Silvera looking at her with a concerned expression. "Ryka, is everything alright? What has gotten you so upset?" Ryka shut her eyes, and hung her head. Just... just remembering. And wishing that I had done something different. She opened her eyes and smiled, though it didn't quite reach her eyes. But I'm done now. Really, Silvera. So... What've you been up to lately? Ryka nearly winced at how that sounded, but managed to resist. (Oh my god, I sound like a bumbling idiot! That's such a personal question and I just throw it out there! What is wrong with me? No, no more put downs. Aruoro... he loved my stumblings, so I will too. ) Ryka's eyes suddenly widened, then narrowed. Wait... I heard rumors of a new Alpha... May I ask if they're true? She grinned wolfishly, already having a good idea of the answer. What's his name? (Oops. Overstepped my boundaries again.) Ryka was suddenly grateful for her blue scales, or her face would've been scarlet with embarrassment. |

Silvera watched as Ryka hang her head down and closed her eyes. Whatever had been hurting her inside, had done quite a bit of emotional damage to her, and it made Sil a bit upset in herself that she hadn't been here sooner. Maybe if I had left the plains sooner and came out here I could have prevented her from being hurt so bad. She thought to herself as she heard Ryka tell her that she was just remembering some of the decisions that she had made in the past that were less than desirable. Silvera felt bad for her, She knew somewhat how she felt, but most of her pain from the past wasn't so much wishing that she had made different decisions, she just wanted her sister back that those monsters took from her. Ryka then told her that she was done thinking about if for now. Silvera nodded not completely believing her as something she knew from experience as that the past wasn't something you could just forget about. She let it go though as she knew that just continuing on the matter wasn't going to make Ryka feel any better. She then heard Ryka ask how she had been and what she had been up to lately. Her reaction to her question she had asked belittled Silvera, almost as if she felt something was wrong with what she had asked. Actually I haven't really been up to too much at all. Just trying to keep things in order within the clan. It's been a bit difficult to keep up with everything and find some time for myself to do anything fun. She told her still not completely sure why she reacted the way she did. She then said that she had heard that there was a new alpha in her lands and was curious to his name but again had a similar reaction that she had to her first question. As a matter of fact there, is. His name is Zircon, and he's the best thing that's ever happened to me, and to be completely honest, the only male dragon I've ever truly trusted since Kuron killed my sister so many years ago. She told her. She could still sense that something was amiss within Ryka, but she knew Ryka, and if she wanted to talk about it, then she would bring it up herself. Silvera wasn't going to push her in a direction that she wasn't willing to go in. You know Ryka, my offer from the past still stands and will always apply, You are more than welcome to come live with us in our lands. You don't have to be alone... In fact it would make me happy if you'd come back with me when I go back. I'm had planned on staying here a few days anyways, and now I'll make it a stand to stay as long as you need me to. She told her adding, I really don't like seeing a dragon being left alone like you have been. At the very least I guess what I'm trying to say is that if you ever need anything, you know you always have someone to turn to, as I will do everything in my ability to help you. She concluded gently tightening the grip of her wing around Ryka's back moving it back and forth in a rubbing motion showing Ryka that she was here for her. |

Ryka watched the emotions play out in Silvera's eyes. (She regrets something. Probably not getting her sooner to keep me from remembering. If only she knew that I'd still hurt, whether she was here or not.) She smiled when Silvera told her about Zircon. He sounds nice. He must be if he makes you happy. As Silvera continued, Ryka looked down and shut her eyes. I do appreciate your offer and your concern, but I don't think I'm very well suited to work with others. She opened her eyes and half smiled. Besides I have lived on my own since I was 13, but the elder that was caring for me really didn't do much once I was 11, so it seems longer. Anyway, what could I really do? I've never had a thing for hunting or scouting, and I've never much enjoyed healing. And I couldn't just sit around and do nothing, I just can't do that. She sighed gently. My brother always said that I just needed to find something I'm good at. I guess I just haven't yet. She looked to the moon. (Or maybe I'm just good at being alone.) |

Silvera listened to Ryka as she spoke of her offer to her lands. Telling her that she had been alone since she was thirteen, and said that she didn't really think that she worked well with others, and didn't really care about hunting or scouting, they just weren't her thing, and she said that she just couldn't not do something. Silvera Nodded her head at the last statement. You're right, I had already figured that you weren't one to be a scout or a huntress of the like, you're too good for something like that. Silvera told her before turning her head to look at Ryka's eyes. But I know for a fact that there are somethings that you are good in, and one of those things is being a friend. I'm sure many of the dragons in our clan would love to have a friend like you. Someone that they can come to if they needed to for support or something on the matter. Something else that I knew that you would make, is a good leader. Someone who's had experience in many different regions and styles of living. Silvera told her trying to cheer Ryka up. She then thought of something that could help pursuade her, Would you be interested in third in command? The deltess position? I don't know what happened to Icescale, she disappeared a few months ago and has not returned. It's quite possible one of these new monsters that have appeared in the lands had gotten to her. I've seen the damage those things can cause, and with this length of time that she's been gone, I can only assume the worst. Ryka will... Will you please consider my offer... I really don't want anything to happen to you out here. I care for you too much. She asked in an almost pleading tone. She didn't want Ryka to be the next victom of one of these monsters. |

Ryka was again grateful for her blue scales when Silvera said that Ryka was to good for scouting or hunting. She held her tongue though, knowing that Silvera would try to contradict her if Ryka tried to disprove her. A smile crept on to Ryka's face when Silvera said that Ryka was a good friend. But when Silvera offered her the Delta position, Ryka's mouth went into a thin line. She shut her eyes as she thought, something that the elder had driven into her mind. If you shut your eyes, they cannot see what you are thinking! True, you cannot see them, but that is what your ears are for! (She does care for me, and these monsters don't sound very nice. But should I tell her about it? Yes, she should know. Before I completely screw up and destroy what I love again.) Ryka opened her eyes and locked her gaze with Silvera's. If you really want me to, then I'll try. But please, hear me out first. I've been known to make less than ideal decisions. As in, total screw ups. She paused a moment before continuing. What I tell you is one of those screw ups. When you found me here, you saw me remembering my family. Did I tell you what happened to them? Ryka took a deep breath and set her gaze on a point somewhere across the lake. They died. I got them killed. My parents, my four brothers, and I were happy living in peace. We didn't live in Selzar then, and as far as we knew, we were the only dragons for hundreds of miles. Then a village of humans formed near our cave. My parents always told me that nothing good would come from the humans and I was to stay away from them. I was 6, and had just gotten really good at flying. I was in a feild flying after butterflies and then he appeared. A human. He had some shiny thing that he used to get me to follow him back to his village. The entire village was armed with knives and nets. They tried to catch me, but I ran. One of them cut me though, by throwing his knife. It wasn't much, but I was leaving a trail of blood for them to follow. They followed me back to my family's cave and a great battle ensued. They fought to keep me alive. They killed the humans, even though it cost them their lives. My eldest brother, Aruoro, was the last one alive. The very last human had gotten a spear into his lung and it was slowly killing him. He made me promise him something before he passed on, but I broke it the very next day. There were tears running down Ryka's face, but she didn't bother to wipe them away. Her next words were said in a low whisper. Do you still think I could be a good leader? Even though I led my family to their death? Ryka shut her eyes, feeling a little better at letting her tears flow. (Aruoro, I'm sorry that I couldn't keep my promise to you. But I just couldn't not blame myself for your death.) |

Silvera watched as Ryka had closed her eyes and entered a state of deep thought. What she was thinking couldn't be deciphered, but she had an idea of what it was considering the topic that they were on. A few moments passed and Ryka's gaze was soon deadlocked with her own. She told her that she would be willing to try, if Silvera would hear her out, which Silvera was sure that Ryka already knew the answer to, and as she predicted Ryka didn't need to wait for any sort of confirmation from her to go ahead. She started off by saying that she had been known for making less than ideal decisions resulting in catastrophic failures. Silvera found herself trying to picture what this dragon could have done in the past that has lead to something going horribly wrong. The more she thought on the more dumbfounded she became. It wasn't until Ryka started in that Silvera stopping trying to think and just listened. That was something that she was good at. She would take in everything that someone would have to say, and then according to what she was trying to prove, would pull out key points to hell either encourage the being that she was talking with, or intimidate it if she thought that they had meant danger to her clan, and she knew that Ryka meant the least amount of harm possible. She listened as Ryka began about her past, starting off by saying that she was the reason that her family had died. She told Silvera that they had lived in distant lands, and were what they thought were the only ones around for a vast area of terrain. She told her how she was flying through a field when her attention was caught by a human who used something shiny to lead her back to the village where they had tried to capture her. She told her how she had been cut by a knife that they had thrown at her causing her to leave a trail of blood back to her home that they had followed. She told Silvera how the humans and her family had destroyed each other with her family trying to keep her alive. That she had broke a promise that she had made to her dying brother the very next day. She then let out the bombshell asking if Sil thought that she would still be a good leader even though she unintentionally led your family to her death. Silvera could see that this deeply hurt her inside as she had been in tears throughout most of the ordeal. Silvera squeezed her in tighter and put her head under her neck like a sister would trying to make her sibling feel better. Hey.. Hey,, it's okay. Silvera started. Your past and what happened to you family, While I feel a pit in my stomach from you having to go through it, you must realize, that it wasn't your fault. Regardless of whether you had followed the human back to the city or not, he would have watched you fly back to your roost and would have still come after you. once you were spotted there was nothing you could do at that point, and you couldn't help that. How were you supposed to know that a human would be going through a field at the same time you were. Also, you were only six Ryka, still basically a wyrmling. Mistakes happen, and while I know it doesn't make anything better, that's all this was. It was a mistake. You can't constantly hold this against yourself. She told her trying to think of an example, and the first one that she could think of was Nira. Take Nira for example, Not sure if you've met her or not, but I'm sure you've heard of her. She used to be called the evil one, or the "terror of the Skies" depending on who you talked to and had a reputation for being a notorious killer. However, even though everything was caused by her. She wasn't to blame. From what I heard from Kukiron, she had been possessed by a spirit that had taken over control of her body that had caused her to be like that. She is fully aware of she has done while she was in her other form. It affected her for the first few days as everything hit her at once, but she didn't ever dwell on it. If you dwell on something, it only makes it that much worse. I know that from experience. I dwelled over the murder of my sister for the longest time before putting it behind me so that I could focus on training to retake what was rightfully mine. Now, Nira is a completely different dragon, as kind and as loving as you are. Unfortunately the only time I had a chance to meet here was when she was on the brink of death after the first encounter with this monster that had poisoned her. Nira adopted one of the younglings of which she had hurt in the past, and she now has a mate. If you’re asking what this has to do with you, the answer is a lot. Your pasts are of Similar opposites. Even though they were different with intentions, they ended up having similar effects causing the two of you to be alone for a very long time, and because you've been out here as long as you have, and you remember what happened, the answer to your question is that I see you as being more than just a good leader. I feel like I could leave you in charge of the clan for a full week or even a month while I was scouting the other clans for information and wouldn't have anything to worry about. Why, because you have one thing that a lot of others in my clan don't have. And that is experience. Yes, you had a miss-hap in the past, but that's just it. It's in the past. Let the past go, and worry about what's happening now. You can't save the ones who have already been lost, but you can prevent the loss of the ones who are still alive. So long answer short, not only do I think that you would a great leader, but you are the only other one I would have considered offering the position to regardless if I had known this or not. All you needed, was a second chance that you wouldn't let anyone give you because you were afraid of the past repeating itself, but you're experienced enough now to prevent that from occurring. I'm now giving you that chance. A chance to step forward and embrace the past rather than continuing to dwell on it. So my question to you now, when would you like to see your new home? Silvera asked her concluding her moderately lengthened prep talk to try to help show Ryka what she saw. She saw what she literally believed was her sister. She had Akornia's personality to a tee, and she knew that Akornia would have been the same way if something like that had happened to her. She herself blamed herself for Akornia's death for the longest time, and still once and a while wonders if she could have saved her had she just went back after her. |

Ryka listened well to what Silvera said about mistakes happening and how she thought Ryka would be a better than good leader and that Ryka just needed to let someone give her a second chance. New tears filled Ryka's eyes, but these tears were of happiness. It's no wonder that everybody that knows you loves you. You know exactly how to make someone feel better. And it's all true, unlike those who only spout lies. Ryka wiped her tears away. I think that we should venture back in the morning. Even with this full moon, we could be jumped. And fighting in the air when the sky is as dark as the ground isn't a good idea. A thick cloud passed in front of the moon. Especially when that happens. A distant roar cut across the sky, making a shiver run down Ryka's spine. The cloud moved away, bathing the lake shore in moonlight again. Ryka turned to Silvera, her eyes showing slight fear. That doesn't sound friendly. Maybe we should go. Ryka looked around at the trees ringing the lake as a second faint roar answered the first one. Even though it was clearly much further away, it was just as unsettling as the first roar. Now. |

Silvera watched as Ryka's eyes once again began to fill with tears, though this time they had a different aura about them. A much brighter feel. When Ryka told her how it was no wonder why everyone who knew her loved her because she knew how to make someone feel better. Silvera just kind of let out a small laugh. Well, being able to make others happy didn't come without my own pain from the past. I'm sure you heard me mention before, that I had lost my sister when I was younger, but did you ever hear how or why? Silvera asked her as Ryka made a comment on leaving saying that it might be best if they waited until morning. as with as dark as it was, they could be ambushed easily. For that very reason is why we should be moving. It would be much more difficult for them to attack a moving target in the dark than it woul be if they were sitting still. She pointed out as a loud roar rang through the lake. Not one of those things again... She said softly remembering how close she came to death from her fight with it the first time. A second roar folloed the first one and it sent shivers down her back. Ryka said that they needed to leave now, and Silvera quickly nodded her head in agreement. "Yes, Staying here would only put us in danger, but I'm not flying back through the plains. That's where that beast is living withing the plains and the falls. Which is upsetting to me because the falls are one of my favorite places in the continent to go to. It'll take longer, but we should fly east of here and fly through Furick's lands to get home. It will keep us out of the central region, and the mountains would make it harder for the beast to track us if he's already on to us.[/b] she told Ryka not liking the situation they were in. they were needing to get away from the lake and fast. |

Ryka nodded. I agree. It's either that, or risk whatever's out there. Actually, we could ask the Kukiron clan if we could stay for the night, but if this beast is tracking us, not only will it be able catch up to us easily over the desert, we'd put all Kukiron clan in danger. Ryka stepped a few paces away from Silvera so as not to hit her while Ryka was spreading her wings. I'll follow you. It's been too long since I went near Furick lands for me to lead. |

(Wyvern, I think that the next post should be a collaboration post where you and I RP it through PM to geth through the Furick lands. Otherwise we're goign to have a lot of very short posts that will fall well below the minimum word cound. You can Start the PM RP whenever you're ready.) Silvera watched and listened as Ryka told her that it was either that or risk whatever was out there. Silvera like teh idea of getting the hell out of here better than waiting to be attacked. Ryka mention about probably going to Kukiron, but as she herself pointed out it is an open desert with almost no cover. It not only would be easy for the beast to track them but would put that entire clan in danger. At least furic had the safety of the mountains. Ryka then backed away from Sil a bit to spread her wings and Silvera did the same. Ryka tld her that she hadn't been through those lands in a while so that sheo would follow her. Another roar came sceerching across the lake this one louder than the first one was, and whe Silvera turned to look in the direction that it was coming from, she saw the outline of a fouw-winged creature. We have to go! NOW!! Silvera said as she launched herself into the air. Ryka hurry! You don't want to be hit by that thing. she said as she waited for her to take off. |

(This is the PM part of the topic. The breaks between users are represented with a series of dashes, the character's name, and a color change.) ----Ryka---- Ryka froze as another roar came across the lake. Yeah, it was tracking them, and if had already reached the lake, it was far faster than Ryka imagined. She prayed that that speed wouldn't last in flight. As the shadow of the creature appeared, Ryka tensed with sheer terror, something she hadn't truly felt since she had been surrounded by the humans. Somewhere she could hear Silvera shouting that they needed to go right then. Independent of her mind, she could feel her body moving on instinct, her wings raised her into the air. Her eyes remained transfixed upon the beast, hypnotized by it's hideous appearance. It stared directly at Ryka and roared again, snapping her out of her reverie. She continued rising above the huge beast's head and flew towards Silvera. New plan, let's just fly as fast as we can and regroup later. Ryka glided towards where she thought East was, away from the beast on the shore. Knowing only that the beast would stop at nothing to kill her, she flew as fast as she could while being sure that she could help Silvera should the beast somehow grab hold of her. ----Silvera---- Silvera watched Ryka pull herself from the ground totally fixiated on the massive beast that was behing them. NO! Silvera exclaimed she said as the beast started closing in making her pick up her pace. If we get split up it will pick us off one by one, and it's too dark to seperate. The Furic lands are a maze, and if one of us gets lost, we could end up trapped by the monster. We fly as fast as we can yes, but we stay together. She told her as she caught up to her flank. ----Ryka---- Ryka nodded upon hearing Silvera's words. That's a much better plan. You should lead. Ryka slowed her flight a mere fraction until she was side by side with Silvera, afraid to go any further back. She leveled out her speed so that the beast would not have an easy time trying to catch up. Taking a deep breath to steady herself for the upcoming flight, a proverb came to Ryka's mind. Fear is the mind killer. Where fear treads, nothing will remain. I will let my fear wash over me, and looking back, only I will remain. I refuse to let fear grip my heart again tonight! The beast roared again, apparently having just taken off from the lake. It wasn't used to having prey run, to be able to break the binding fear it gave off. At any other time, Ryka would've smiled at its frustration. But not now. Now, they needed to fly fast and true. ----Silvera---- Ryka slowed down enough to allow Silvera to catch up to her and then the both speed up to make sure the beast would have difficulty catching up to them. Silvera looked back at the beast and saw it shoot a blackish colored liquid at them. It was more aimed towards her than anything. She rolled to her right, Watch Out! She yelled in the process. She saw the mountians up ahead. Follow me, We'll use the mountains for cover, there's most likely a cave or something that we can use that the Jorthian won't fit in. She told her veering towards the peaks of Furick. ----Ryka---- Ryka stopped flapping her wings, falling to dodge the black liquid. She regained her speed and altitude quickly, having practiced under the care of the elder. Silvera said that there was most likely a cave that the Jorthian wouldn't be able to fit in. Ryka nodded. Logic said that this thing could hear, and instinct told Ryka that the last thing they wanted was it knowing their plans. Ryka slid into a formation just behind Silvera, but a little off to the the right. Ready. Lead the way, but we should lower our voices. I think that thing can hear us. Ryka heard the beast growl loudly. It could hear them, and it didn't like to be called "thing". Or it was just mad that it hadn't caught them yet. ----Silvera---- Silvera turned her head back at the beast when it growled at them yet again after Ryka had told her that she thought the thing could hear them. Silvera wasn't sure whether it could or not but she wasn't about to ask it. She started to try to push herself just a bit fast when sharp pains started shooting through her wings from them still not being fully healed. Ryka! Silvera yelled as her altitude was decreasing not at a rapid, but at a steady pace. My wings are giving out. I can't fly much longer we have to find a shelter and soon otherwise you'll have to leave me behind. She told her. She knew that for Ryka to leave her behind would be extremely hard for her to do especially after what the two of them had talked about. She doubt she could do it, but she didn't want Ryka to die because of her. ----Ryka---- Ryka heard Silvera say that her wings were giving out and that they needed to find shelter. Ryka ignored the part about leaving Silvera. Gliding gracefully to Silvera's side, Ryka lay her claw on Silvera's back between her wings and used her healing magic, hoping to give Silvera a bit of a boost until they could find shelter. I'm not letting you go. I've held my own before, and like you said before, the Furick lands are a maze. I may not know these lands as well as some, but I know more than that Thing. Ryka's eyes drifted over the lands, looking for an entrance in the rock face. Her eyes lighted upon a small opening, and she discretely pointed it out to Silvera. There, Ryka murmured. That looks small enough. ----Silvera---- Silvera could feel herself slipping lower and lower she felt Ryka place a claw on her back and tried to use some healing magic to try to ease the pain before telling her that she wasn't going to let her go. She wasn't surprised. She pointed out a cave that looked to be small enough that the beast couldn't get in not too far away. Silvera nodded but she was too low and even with Ryka's help couldn't gain any altitude. Right we'll head there, but I need you to do something for me. You aren't going to like it, but you have to do it if I'm going to be able to get into the cave. She told Ryka really needing her to do this for her, and she hoped that she had the strength in more ways than one to do it. I need you to dig your talons as deep as you can into my back and help lift me higher into the sky so that I can clear the bottom of the entrance. I promise you I won't ask anything like this from you again, but please I really need your help right now, and you're going to have to hurt me to do it. Otherwise we both die! She told her. Besides, it wasn't like Ryka couldn't heal the talon wounds once they got into the cave. (This is the reply to the last PM) ----Ryka---- Ryka heard Silvera say that Ryka had to sink her claws into Silvera's back and help her to the cave entrance or they'd both die. Ryka knew that Silvera was right, and positioned herself so that she was flying above Silvera. Bracing herself mentally for what she had to do, Ryka sunk her claws into Silvera's back and gave several large powerful strokes with her wings to lift them both and angle them toward the cave at the same time. As they reached the cave, Ryka took her claws out of Silvera's back and made a small platform appear from out of the rock at the cave's entrance for Silvera to land on if she had to. Ryka could sense the black beast catching up, the scent of poison now clearly reaching Ryka's nose. With a start, she realized how close she could've come to death if Silvera hadn't been at the lake to warn her about touching it. The poison would've slowly killed her on the dark lake shore. Ryka glided into the cave after hovering there in shock for a moment or two. Once she was inside, she went over to Silvera and healed the talon wounds. You alright? (OOC: I kind of assumed that Sil was already in the cave when Ryka entered.) Edited by wyvern95, Nov 7 2009, 07:16 PM.

(Yeah She would be) It was only a few moments after Silvera had asked Ryka to grab onto her that felt Ryka's talons dig deep into her back just as she asked. She naturally grimaced from the pain, and could feel the warm crimson blood flowing down her what would normally bright silver scales if this was any other night or should the time had been during the lighting period of the day. She felt Ryka pull her talons from her body as she fell into the opening of the cave and watched as Ryka Circled quickly and came in as well. Silvera's back was screaming in pain. She was to in the back of her mind. She wanted to make sure though that she at least tried to look strong however unsuccessful she was right now. She couldn't imagine what thoughts were going through Ryka's mind right now. She had felt her heal the wounds on her back and then asked her if she was alright. She licked Ryka on her neck, I... I can't move my wings at all right now, but it should only be temporary until the pain and nerves calm down in them. I'll survive, thanks to you. She told her truthfully her wings almost completely immobilized. She was more concerned about Ryka's thoughts. Her blood was now coating Ryka's talons, and seeing after what they had just talked about she had hoped that Ryka would realized that she wasn't hurting her but saving her. We will have to spend at least a day or two here. I dare not make the journey back to Juthivar trying to outrun that thing with a bad pair of wings. They still haven't completely healed from the last encounter with that thing. she told her shuddering at the thought. |

Ryka listened attentively as Silvera explained that though she couldn't move her wings, it was only temporary until the pain and nerves calmed down and that thanks to Ryka, she would survive. Ryka gave a sort of half smile and she shifted her eyes to her claws. I'm only returning the favor. If you hadn't found me at the lake, I wouldn't have known about that beast and it's poison until it was far too late. Ryka looked out of the cave entrance, the outside eerily quiet. Ryka continued to listen as Silvera said that it would be best if they waited for a few days before they left the cave, for trying to outrun the beast to Juthivar lands on a bad set of wings wouldn't be a good idea, especially since they hadn't yet healed from the last encounter Silvera had with the beast. Ryka noticed Silvera's shudder and didn't press the matter. Ryka used her water magic on the blood on her claws, pulling it away before it dried and became much harder to clean. She would've just licked it off, but the elder had always told her to never touch the blood of another dragon, for you didn't know exactly what would happen. Over the years though, it just seemed better to clean others' blood with water or magic. Ryka had nearly finished cleaning one of her claws when a crashing noise was heard from outside, followed by a loud, reverberating roar. It hurt Ryka's ears, but she resisted the urge to curl into a ball. The beast had probably clung to the rock face somewhere on the mountain nearby and was trying to locate them. Ryka prepared her earth and fire magic should the beast pick the right cave to peer into. If it did, it would be greeted with a slab of flame-coated stone. |

Ryka's comment towards her was one of simplicity and truth, but Silvera couldn't help but smile at it. That may be, but nevertheless If I hadn't found you out here at all, I would have been in a situation far worse than an injured pair of wings. It was a simple statement, but one that held truth for both of them. The ancestors must have known that the beast was going to show itself tonight and that was why it lead them together in order to help each other escape. Silvera was grateful for Ryka's presence, and could tell that Ryka felt likewise. Silvera was then shaken as she felt the ground and the walls of the cave quake as if something had impacted the mountain. She looked towards the cave exit to find that there were rocks falling over the cave entrance. It wasn't being blocked though due to the fact that there was no lip for the rocks to catch on to. Ryka readied her earth and fire, and Silvera shielded the entrance with ice leaving an opening of about a foot from the to allow air in. That should keep him out. Silvera told her. If was obvious that the pain was intensifying as her wings were limp as she moved with the tips dragging along the ground as she trying to find a spot where she could lay comfortably and rest. She found a spot in the back corner of the cave. It was fairly cool, and there was a lot of moisture in the area that would help ease her wings. Might as well make yourself comfortable. I don't think we'll be going anywhere for a while, Silvera told her. |

Ryka watched as Silvera sealed a majority of the entrance to the cave leaving some open for air at the top. Ryka cut the flow of her own magic, the flames dissipating and the earth settling slowly to the floor and walls of the cave. We still shouldn't let our guard down. This is more than likely the only cave that is iced over, so if this beast has any sort of intellect at all, it will know we are in here should it see this. And I don't think that it'll let us go without a search. Ryka watched as Sil searched for a place that she could presumably rest her wings. Once Sil had found a place, Ryka went over and settled nearby. Might as well make yourself comfortable. I don't think we'll be going anywhere for a while. Ryka nodded at Sil's words and sighed lightly. I have a feeling that you're right. But after that scare, I really don't know if I'd mind a bit of a wind down. She shut her eyes and smiled as a thought came to mind. Arouro would never believe this, not even if he were here. |

Keeping her relaxed position in the corner of the cave, Silvera listened as Ryka mentioned something about still not being able to let their guard down. That she was quite sure that this would be the only cave in the area that had ice over it and that if this thing had any intelligence, it would figure out where they were. Silvera though briefly on this and thickened the ice. There, we at least shouldn't have to worry about him getting in. This cave would be too small for him to move in for one and second, he wouldn't be able to get through the wall of ice at the entrance, she told Ryka. She stayed relaxed. She had confidence in the strength of her ice and was sure that it would hold. My biggest concern though, is food. I don't know how plentiful these lands are for hunting and if we are going to be here for a bit it could pose a problem. Especially when you add the fact in that I can't really hunt right now, and I don't expect you to do everything by yourself, she told her. What kind of alphess would she be if she made Ryka hunt for her and take care of her? Certainly not an alphess that she would want to live under. She would have to think of a way to at least fend for herself in some way, and help around until they can get home. |

Ryka nodded when Sil said that even if the beast found the cave, it wouldn't be able to fit or break the ice. True, it can't hurt us here. She continued to listen as Silvera said that the main concern was food, and she didn't know how plentiful these lands were for hunting. Not to mention that in her state, she couldn't hunt and she didn't expect Ryka to have to hunt for her. Ryka smiled and shook her head. Sil, I'd be more than happy to hunt for you. Think of it as me paying you back. Earlier, you gave me a chance to join a place where I belong, and even now, it's your magic that's serving as the main barrier against that beast out there. Besides, you really don't want to risk your wings again. If you push them too much, you might lose them forever. And that, well, that'd be more than awful to say the least. A life flightless... The thought scared Ryka almost as much as the beast that had been pursuing them, but she kept the fear off her face. ...Still, don't worry about hunting. It's no trouble. |

It was the response that she expected to hear from Ryka, but it didn't mean she liked the situation anymore so. She felt helpless and like she had failed at her most important task which was to make sure that her friends and her clan was safe. Ryka wasn't safe now, because she would have to hunt in this strange land with the possibility of not finding her way back to this particular cave. You are very sweet Ryka. I don't know what I would do without you right now. I am still a bit uncomfortable about this situation. I wish that I had the ability to at least hunt for myself to take some of the burden off of you, she told her. I feel really bad about it because you have all the burden to carry right now, and I feel completely useless. You have to, or rather, choosing to protect me and hunt for me while I'm struggling just to maintain myself... she said a small tear flowing from her eye. Maybe it's just the alphess in me to want to be there for the others in the clan and those that I care about. I just want you to be careful, she said with a large yawn. Well, nothing more to do tonight, we might as well get some rest. If nothing else we'll get to spend some quality time together, something I rarely get to do with many members of the clan. Sleep well, she told Ryka, then suddenly remembering something. Oh and Ryka, if you should happen to wake up before I do in the morning, don't forget to relieve yourself either on the lip or near the base of the cave. Otherwise it will be almost impossible to find your way back in these mountains, she told her letting another tear roll down the side of her face. It was partially due to the pain in her wings, but also because she hated this sitation and she felt as low as she could ever be. |
